One of my favorite shows is America’s Test Kitchen. The show plays in the US but you can also stream it through their subscription-based service online. The premise of the show is that most cook books are meant to be for coffee tables rather than for cooking. The staff from the show makes a dish every week using common ingredients found in most American supermarkets and then tests recipes with 30+ variations to determine what works best for a normal person.
Here is an interview with the hosts, Jack Bishop and Bridget Lancaster, on NPR’s Fresh Air.
I’ve tried a handful of recipes and most have worked out pretty well. I’ve started this page to keep track of what I have done.
