Not Playing By the Rules

Yesterday I was reading that someone with a questionable reputation was just awarded a giant contract.

God, I don’t get it.  I don’t understand how God allows bad people to get absurdly rich.  They are celebrated, praised, and deified.  When Forbes puts together its billionaires list, how they made their money is not nearly as important as the fact that they are rich.  It seems that societies around the world do not care how you made your money.  The only lesson is don’t get caught.

For instance, take the case of Steve Cohen.  Lately, his company SAC Capital Advisors has been in the news.  His company — not him — has admitted to insider trading and has to pay fines of $1.2 billion.  This seems like a lot until you realize that Mr. Cohen is worth $9.3 billion.

Lately, I’ve been reading about the Russian mafia and it seems all of the billionaires coming out of that part of the world have rather dirty hands.  In Nigeria, 419 scammers are not reviled.  They are regarded as successfully sticking it to the white man.

But does anyone/God care?
